Sacramento, CA (March 18, 2025) – A male cyclist was killed Tuesday evening after colliding with a car near Fruitridge Road and Ethel Way. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
Incident Details: According to the Sacramento Police Department, the crash was reported just after 7:45 p.m. Despite life-saving efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene, and investigators do not believe DUI was a factor in the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Fatal bicycle crashes often involve questions of visibility, right-of-way, and roadway design. Investigators will likely assess whether the cyclist had proper lighting, whether speed or distraction played a role, and if road conditions contributed to the incident. If driver negligence is found, the victim’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for their loss.
My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim.
