Tragic Crash on 105 Freeway Near LAX Kills Carlos Sicairos and Bryan Bolanos and Injures Two Others

Los Angeles, CA (June 22, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, a devastating crash occurred on the 105 Freeway near Los Angeles International Airport, resulting in the deaths of two young men, later identified as Carlos Sicairos and Bryan Bolanos, and injuries to two other individuals.

Accident Details: Officers responding to the scene discovered that one of the cars had gone off the side of an off-ramp and crashed into another vehicle in an employee parking lot below. The collision happened around 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Nash Street. The impact of the crash was severe, leading to the tragic deaths of 18-year-old Carlos Sicairos and 19-year-old Bryan Bolanos, who were pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several factors warrant examination. If negligence is the cause of the crash, the families of Sicairos and Bolanos may be able to file a wrongful death claim. Similarly, the two injured individuals may be able to file a personal injury claim. The investigation into negligence must consider many factors, such as the following:

  • Driver Behavior: Investigating whether any of the drivers involved were under the influence of alcohol or drugs, distracted, or driving recklessly at the time of the crash is crucial. Eyewitness accounts, traffic camera footage, and toxicology reports will be essential.
  • Vehicle Condition: Another crucial factor is examining whether any mechanical failure or vehicle defect contributed to the crash. Maintenance records and expert inspections can provide valuable insights.
  • Road Conditions: Assessing the condition of the road, off-ramp design, signage, and lighting in the area can help determine whether any roadway factors contributed to the accident.
  • Safety Barriers: Investigating whether adequate safety barriers were in place on the off-ramp to prevent vehicles from going over the side can highlight potential areas of liability.
  • Parking Lot Safety: Analyzing the safety measures in the employee parking lot where the secondary collision occurred can uncover any lapses in security or design that might have contributed to the accident’s severity.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Carlos Sicairos and Bryan Bolanos as they go through this challenging and heartbreaking time. I wish the two injured individuals a speedy recovery.
