Crash Kills Alberto Rodriguez and Injures Several Others in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA (December 2, 2024) – Alberto Rodriguez, 24, of Menlo Park, tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision early Monday morning on Interstate 5, according to the Fresno County Coroner.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 12:05 a.m. when a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling north at approximately 60 miles per hour collided with the rear of a 2011 Subaru Outback stopped behind a stationary 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The force of the collision pushed the Subaru into the Freightliner, resulting in significant damage.

Rodriguez died at the scene. He was an unrestrained passenger in the Subaru. The driver and four additional passengers in the Subaru suffered minor to moderate injuries. The drivers of the Volvo and Freightliner were not injured. The Volvo’s passenger was not harmed either.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. The focus will be on why the Volvo failed to slow down or stop before the collision. California law requires drivers to maintain a safe distance and remain alert to avoid rear-end collisions. Failing to stop or slow for stationary vehicles may constitute negligence. Investigators should also examine the Volvo to determine whether mechanical issues or improper maintenance contributed to the crash.

Wrongful Death Claims: The family of Alberto Rodriguez may pursue a wrongful death claim if negligence is established. Such a claim could seek compensation for the emotional and financial losses suffered by Rodriguez’s loved ones due to his untimely death.

Personal Injury Claims: The injured Subaru occupants could file personal injury claims to recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, pain, and suffering.

I want to express my deepest condolences to Alberto Rodriguez’s family and friends during this heartbreaking time.
