Collision Kills Andrew Ruben Flores and Skylor Nan Lish in Merced County

Merced County, CA (December 16, 2024) – On December 16, 2024, shortly before midnight, a devastating collision outside Los Banos claimed the lives of Andrew Ruben Flores and Skylor Nan Lish, both 24 years old, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Accident Details: The crash involved a Kia and a Freightliner tractor-trailer. Authorities reported that Flores, who was driving the Kia, failed to stop at a posted stop sign, leading the vehicle directly into the path of the oncoming tractor-trailer. The Freightliner collided with the Kia. Tragically, Flores and Lish were pronounced dead at the scene. A 1-year-old child in the Kia was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital as a precaution. The truck driver was unharmed.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination.  Determining why the Kia failed to stop at the stop sign is crucial. Factors such as distracted driving, mechanical failure, poor road conditions, or the visibility of traffic signs may provide insight into the cause of the crash.

If another party’s negligence caused the accident, Flores and Lish’s families may be able to file wrongful death claims. If the child was injured, their family may also have grounds for a personal injury claim to address medical costs, pain, and suffering.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of Andrew Ruben Flores and Skylor Nan Lish during this unimaginably difficult time. My thoughts are also with the young child and their family as they recover from this tragic accident.
