E-Bike Rider Killed in Clairemont Mesa Hit-and-Run; Police Release Photos of Suspect Vehicles

San Diego, CA (April 15, 2025) – Authorities are seeking the public’s help to identify two drivers who fatally struck a man riding an electric bicycle in Clairemont Mesa last month and fled the scene.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on March 29 in the 6900 block of Balboa Avenue. The 36-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was riding home from work when he was first hit by a white vehicle believed to be a Dodge Charger. Moments later, a second vehicle, described as a Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan with a black or tinted glass roof, also struck the bicyclist. Paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities released surveillance images of both suspect vehicles, though they remain blurry. Police have no descriptions of the drivers at this time. The intersection where the crash occurred is known to be hazardous due to heavy traffic. San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling 888-580-8477 or visiting sdcrimestoppers.org.

Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
