Chula Vista, CA (August 11, 2025) — Two men in their 70s were killed and three others injured Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Chula Vista, according to local authorities.
Incident Details: Police say the crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. when a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old National City man was traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road and collided with an eastbound SUV attempting a left turn onto Apache Drive. The SUV overturned, trapping its four occupants inside. Fire crews extricated the passengers, including a 75-year-old man who died shortly after being freed and a 76-year-old man who died later at the hospital. Two other SUV passengers were hospitalized in stable condition. The National City driver was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating the collision, reviewing factors such as right-of-way, vehicle speeds, and whether driver impairment or distraction played a role. Families of those killed in collisions may have legal options to pursue wrongful death claims, which can help address funeral costs, lost financial support, and emotional loss.
I extend my condolences to the families of both men and my hopes for a full recovery to those injured.
