Fatal Multi-vehicle Collision Claims Life of Carly Holubik in Georgia

Effingham County, GA (April 3, 2025) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 80 and Highway 17 in Faulkville claimed the life of Carly Holubik, a dedicated 8th-grade teacher at South Effingham Middle School. According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Incident Details: According to investigators, the crash involved five vehicles, including four commercial trucks and a sedan. Four vehicles were reportedly stopped at a traffic light when a fully loaded concrete truck slammed into the sedan’s rear, causing a chain-reaction crash.

The driver of the sedan, identified as 32-year-old Holubik of Richmond Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed she was on her way to work at the time of the crash.

Holubik had served with the Effingham County School District for the past three years and was widely respected by colleagues, students, and parents. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Law enforcement is continuing to examine all factors that may have contributed to the fatal crash, including the speed and condition of the concrete truck, driver attentiveness, and road or signal conditions at the time of the collision.

If investigators determine that negligence or a traffic violation led to the crash, Ms. Holubik’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim for compensation for funeral costs, emotional distress, and financial loss.

During this difficult time, my deepest condolences go out to Ms. Holubik’s loved ones and the entire Effingham County school community.
