Caleb Goodrich Killed in Late-Night Motorcycle Crash in Palm Springs

Palm Springs, CA (April 28, 2024) – A tragic collision on Gene Autry Trail has resulted in the death of a 31-year-old motorcyclist, identified by the Palm Springs Police Department as Caleb Goodrich of Auburn.

Incident Overview: The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday when Goodrich was riding northbound on Gene Autry Trail. His motorcycle collided with a vehicle that was making a left turn onto East Via Escuela from the opposite direction. Goodrich suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The other driver, a 64-year-old resident of Rancho Mirage, remained at the scene and was later taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Investigation and Legal Implications: Authorities have confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the crash. The ongoing investigation by the Palm Springs Police Department’s Traffic Bureau will further examine the circumstances of the collision, including road conditions and traffic signals at the time of the accident. The findings so far could influence potential civil liabilities, particularly concerning the right of way and responsibilities of the drivers involved. If it’s found that the driver of the other vehicle turned at an unsafe time, the family of Goodrich may consider pursuing a wrongful death claim for their loss.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Caleb Goodrich during this incredibly difficult time. This incident is a somber reminder of the risks motorcyclists face and the importance of caution and vigilance from all drivers, especially at intersections and when making turns. I hope that the family receives the support they need following this tragic crash.
