Update: Ayden Fang Identified as 4-Year-Old Boy Killed in Burlingame Crash Involving E-Bike and Car

Update: Authorities have now identified the young boy killed in Friday’s crash as 4-year-old Ayden Fang.
Burlingame, CA (August 8, 2025) — A tragic crash in downtown Burlingame Friday evening claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy and injured a 6-year-old girl after an e-bike collided with a car that then veered onto a sidewalk.

Incident Details: Authorities report that at approximately 6:25 p.m., a sedan driven by a 19-year-old San Mateo woman was entering Donnelly Avenue from Parking Lot D when it was struck by an eastbound e-bike. The impact caused the vehicle to accelerate across Donnelly Avenue, jump the curb, and strike two children on the sidewalk before coming to rest at the Truffle Bar. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, and the girl was transported to Stanford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Burlingame Police Department’s Traffic Division, along with the North San Mateo County Major Accident Investigation Team, is examining the sequence of events that led to the crash. Investigators are reviewing the e-bike’s operation, the vehicle’s response after impact, and whether any traffic violations occurred. Families affected by incidents like this may have legal avenues to seek compensation for wrongful death and related damages.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the young boy, and I wish the injured girl a full recovery.
