Suspected DUI Crash in Yuba City Kills Bryan Alejandro Rodriguez-Duran, Injures 7 Others

Yuba City, CA (June 2, 2024) – Tragedy struck on Sunday evening in Yuba City after a suspected DUI crash resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

Incident Details: At approximately 8:42 P.M., Yuba City Police Department responded to several emergency calls regarding a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of El Margarita Road and State Highway 20. The initial investigation revealed that 39-year-old Chloe Tokuno-Fraley, driving a white Honda Crosstour, failed to adhere to a stop sign at El Margarita Road. She subsequently navigated around a raised center median, entering the opposite lane of State Highway 20 and driving into oncoming westbound traffic. Tokuno-Fraley’s vehicle collided head-on with a Ford F150, which was traveling westbound.

The truck had six passengers, all of whom sustained injuries. Five passengers were taken to Adventist Rideout Hospital, and one was transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital. Bryan Alejandro Rodriguez-Duran, a 27-year-old resident of Colusa, later died from his injuries at Adventist Rideout Hospital. The remaining passengers sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening. Tokuno-Fraley was also transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a 4-year-old girl in the Honda was taken to U.C. Davis Hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation and Legal Consequences: Authorities believe Tokuno-Fraley was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The Yuba City Police Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation. Once completed, the case will be forwarded to the Sutter County District Attorney’s office, where criminal charges are expected to be filed against Tokuno-Fraley. Based on the preliminary information, the family of the deceased victim could choose to pursue a wrongful death claim for their loss. Additionally, the other injured victims could make personal injury claims.

My thoughts are with the families and friends of Bryan Alejandro Rodriguez-Duran and all those affected by this devastating incident. I also wish a swift recovery to all of those injured.
