Encinitas, CA (January 1, 2025) – On New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025, Marcos Perez Domingo, 45, was struck by a Hyundai Elantra while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Cerro Street in Encinitas.
Accident Details: The driver of the Hyundai, a 79-year-old woman, was traveling east on Encinitas Boulevard when she stuck cyclist Marcos Perez Domingo. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Tragically, he passed away two days later. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office authorities responded to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the sheriff’s department has indicated that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been factors.
