Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Semi in Georgia

Senoia, GA (April 4, 2025) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a semi-truck Friday morning in Coweta County. The collision prompted a major emergency response, including an airlift to a trauma center.

Incident Details: The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of Old Highway 85 and Walt Sanders Memorial Drive. According to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, the cyclist was traveling southbound when the semi-truck attempted to pass and struck him from behind.

The bicyclist sustained severe injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. As of the most recent update, the victim’s condition has not been publicly disclosed.

Deputies closed the southbound lane of Old Highway 85 for several hours while investigators processed the scene. The truck driver remained on site and cooperated with authorities.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Key questions include whether the truck driver allowed a safe passing distance, whether distraction or driver error contributed, and whether the cyclist was properly visible at the time of the crash.

If investigators determine that the truck driver acted negligently, the injured cyclist may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim. These claims can help recover damages for medical expenses, long-term rehabilitation, lost income, and pain and suffering.

I wish the injured cyclist and their family a speedy and full recovery.
