Antioch, TN (October 6, 2025) – A man identified as Hector Rodríguez was killed Monday morning after his vehicle struck a parked semi-truck along Interstate 24 at the Rutherford–Davidson County line, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: Authorities said the crash happened just before 6 a.m. when Rodríguez’s vehicle collided with the rear of a semi-truck that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate. The impact caused extensive front-end damage to the vehicle, trapping Rodríguez inside. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured. Lanes in the westbound direction were closed for several hours as investigators documented the crash scene and cleared the wreckage.
Investigation: The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash to determine why the truck was stopped on the shoulder and what caused Rodríguez’s vehicle to leave its lane. Investigators will review physical evidence, skid marks, and vehicle data to assess contributing factors such as speed, visibility, fatigue, or distraction. No citations have been issued at this time, and officials have not indicated whether any violations are suspected.
Legal Considerations: Fatal collisions involving parked commercial vehicles can raise questions about the legality of the truck’s location, visibility, and use of hazard lighting. In many cases, both driver behavior and roadside safety practices are evaluated to establish liability. Families of those killed in such crashes may pursue wrongful death claims for funeral expenses, lost income, and emotional suffering if negligence is determined.
This was a devastating loss for Mr. Rodríguez’s family and the local community. I extend my deepest condolences to his loved ones following this tragic Tennessee truck accident.
