Los Angeles, CA (August 2, 2025) — A five-car collision in the Elysian Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles left one man dead and several others injured Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. near 2427 W. Riverside Drive. Witnesses told investigators that a vehicle traveling at approximately 70 mph in a 35-mph zone lost control and struck multiple cars. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that 30-year-old Anthony Silverwood was pronounced dead at the scene. A 69-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were transported to a hospital in critical condition, while two other men in their 30s suffered minor injuries.
Bystanders described the impact as sudden and violent, with one witness noting that speeding and collisions are common along this stretch between Fletcher and Allesandro Streets.
