Anna Casey Killed, Three Injured in Milk Tanker Crash in Ohio

Berlin Township, OH (May 16, 2025) — A 74-year-old woman was killed and three others injured Friday morning when a milk tanker failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a van in Holmes County, according to local authorities.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 7:08 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 201 and County Road 203. Investigators say a milk tanker traveling eastbound on County Road 203 ran a posted stop sign and collided with a northbound Chevy passenger van driven by Anna Casey of Millersburg. The impact struck the driver’s side of the van and pushed both vehicles across Township Road 360 and into a cornfield.

Anna Casey was airlifted from the scene but later died at Akron City Hospital. Her three passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Pomerene Hospital. Their conditions have not been publicly updated. The driver of the milk tanker, a 57-year-old man from Indiana, was reportedly uninjured.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and has not yet announced whether charges will be filed. Authorities will assess whether the truck driver was fatigued, distracted, or violating hours-of-service regulations, and if the trucking company adequately trained and monitored its drivers.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Casey’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim against the trucking company and its driver. The injured passengers may also be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and emotional trauma through personal injury claims

My thoughts are with the family of Anna Casey and with the passengers recovering from this tragic crash.
