Alicia Miller Hit and Killed by a Vehicle in Rancho Mirage, CA

Rancho Mirage, CA (February 22, 2026) – Coroners have identified 62-year-old Alicia Miller as the pedestrian who was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Sunday evening in Rancho Mirage.

Incident Details: On Sunday, February 22, 2026, just before 10 p.m., deputies responded to a traffic collision near Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive in Rancho Mirage. Upon arrival, authorities located a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, with a woman in the roadway suffering from significant injuries.

First responders performed life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigation: Authorities in Rancho Mirage are continuing to investigate the fatal pedestrian collision near Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive. Investigators will work to determine exactly where Alicia Miller was positioned at the time of impact, including whether she was inside a marked crosswalk, near an intersection, or crossing outside of a designated pedestrian area.

Officers will likely review traffic signal timing, roadway lighting, vehicle speed, and visibility conditions at the time of the crash, which occurred just before 10 p.m. Surveillance footage, witness statements, and physical evidence from the roadway will also help reconstruct the sequence of events.

Although authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors, they will still examine whether distraction, inattention, or other driving behaviors contributed to the collision.

Legal Considerations: In California, drivers must exercise due care to avoid striking pedestrians, even when a pedestrian is crossing outside of a marked crosswalk. However, a pedestrian’s location at the time of impact can affect how fault is evaluated. If investigators determine the driver failed to maintain a proper lookout, was traveling too fast for conditions, or otherwise acted negligently, civil liability may apply.

If negligence is established, Alicia Miller’s surviving family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such a claim may seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the loss of companionship and guidance resulting from this tragic incident.

My most sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Alicia Miller during this difficult and tragic time.
