Murray County, OK (June 2, 2025) — An 81-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday night after crashing into a tractor-trailer attempting to turn off State Highway 7, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 8:37 p.m. as Alfred E. Pitman was riding his 1999 Honda Goldwing motorcycle eastbound on State Highway 7. According to investigators, a 2020 Freightliner driven by 30-year-old Travis L. McNeese, also traveling eastbound, began a turn onto Fletcher Road. Pitman’s motorcycle struck the truck during the turn. EMS transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Neither McNeese nor his 55-year-old passenger, Martin R. McNeese, sustained injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: In assessing the circumstances of the collision, investigators will consider factors such as signaling practices, spacing between vehicles, the nature of the turn, visibility, traffic patterns, and any potential actions either party might have taken to avert the incident. These elements are typically key to understanding the sequence of events and the overall context of such accidents.
Depending on the findings of the investigation, Pitman’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to recover for funeral costs, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering.
My condolences go out to Alfred Pitman’s family and friends.
