Polk County, MN (August 7, 2025) — A 67-year-old Grand Forks woman was killed Thursday morning in a crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Highway 2 and County Road 17 near East Grand Forks.
Incident Details: The Minnesota Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at approximately 9 a.m. The woman was driving a Chevrolet Equinox on County Road 17 when her vehicle collided with a 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck traveling on Highway 2. The SUV sustained significant damage in the impact. The semi’s driver, 27-year-old Tyler James Shaver of Red Lake Falls, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of family.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the collision, but investigators will likely examine factors such as right-of-way violations, driver distraction, speed, and visibility at the rural intersection.
