67-Year-Old Woman Killed in Collision with Semi-Truck on Highway 2 in Minnesota

Polk County, MN (August 7, 2025) — A 67-year-old Grand Forks woman was killed Thursday morning in a crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Highway 2 and County Road 17 near East Grand Forks.

Incident Details: The Minnesota Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at approximately 9 a.m. The woman was driving a Chevrolet Equinox on County Road 17 when her vehicle collided with a 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck traveling on Highway 2. The SUV sustained significant damage in the impact. The semi’s driver, 27-year-old Tyler James Shaver of Red Lake Falls, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the collision, but investigators will likely examine factors such as right-of-way violations, driver distraction, speed, and visibility at the rural intersection. Accident reconstruction techniques, including roadway measurements, vehicle damage assessments, and potential review of dash camera footage, will be critical in determining fault.

Pending the investigation’s findings, the victim’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim to recover compensation for funeral expenses, loss of support, and other damages.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life in this tragic crash.
