61-Year-Old Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Hit-and-Run on La Brea Avenue

Los Angeles, CA (August 3, 2025) — A 61-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by multiple vehicles while crossing La Brea Avenue at Rosewood Avenue Sunday night in what police are calling a tragic series of hit-and-run collisions.

Incident Details: The incident occurred around 9 p.m. as the man crossed La Brea in an unmarked crosswalk. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, he was first hit by a northbound vehicle, then run over by at least two additional cars. As required by California law, none of the drivers stopped to render aid or contact emergency services. Despite the swift response of LAFD paramedics, the man was pronounced dead en route to the hospital. His identity has not yet been released.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are continuing their investigation into the collision and will likely examine whether speeding, distraction, impairment, or other factors played a role. Fleeing the scene of a crash that results in injury or death is considered a felony under California law.

A wrongful death claim may be pursued by the family of the deceased man, depending on the investigation’s findings. This claim could compensate for their loss, including funeral and medical expenses, and emotional distress.

I extend my sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim.
