28-Year-Old Driver Injured in Skyline DUI Crash at Woodman and Skyline Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 11, 2025) – A 28-year-old man was hospitalized early Thursday after his Tesla was struck by a suspected DUI driver who ran a red light in San Diego’s Skyline neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Accident Details: The crash occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Woodman Street and Skyline Drive. Authorities say a 38-year-old man driving a 2004 Ford Explorer southbound on Woodman failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a westbound 2025 Tesla Model Y.

The 28-year-old Tesla driver suffered a fractured ulna, a dislocated elbow, and multiple abrasions. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No additional injuries were reported.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was arrested at the scene on suspicion of felony DUI.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash. In DUI collisions, investigators typically review blood alcohol content, traffic signals, and witness statements to establish fault.

Victims of DUI crashes may have the right to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering through civil claims, even as criminal charges proceed against the at-fault driver.

We send our best wishes to the injured driver and hope for a full recovery.
