Merced County, CA (June 3, 2025) — A 27-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The fatal crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Belcher Avenue near Highway 59. CHP officials reported that a 23-year-old driver in a Toyota pickup truck was traveling on Belcher at the same time as the bicyclist. It is unknown which direction the cyclist was heading or how the impact occurred. The bicyclist died at the scene.
The driver remained at the location and has been cooperating with investigators. At this early stage, officers do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role.
