25-Year-Old Motorcyclist Injured in Sonoma Safeway Hit-and-Run Crash

SONOMA, CA (July 4, 2025) – A 25-year-old motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash on July 4th in the parking lot of the Sonoma Safeway, according to the Sonoma Police Department.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 7:56 p.m. at 477 West Napa Street. Witnesses reported that a black Chevy Tahoe struck the motorcyclist near the Safeway entrance and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital for treatment. According to police, the motorcyclist was awake and able to communicate with officers in the emergency room shortly after the crash. While a social media post from a family member suggested the victim was later admitted to the intensive care unit, police could not confirm that detail.

Later that night, 22-year-old Justin Flores of Boyes Hot Springs turned himself in at the Sonoma Valley police substation. He was arrested at 11:40 p.m. and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Authorities confirmed Flores was the driver but said he was not the registered owner of the Chevy Tahoe.

Police found no evidence of alcohol or drug use in connection with the crash.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Sonoma Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. Hit-and-run crashes, especially those resulting in injury, are considered felony offenses in California. Victims of motorcycle collisions often face significant medical expenses, recovery time, and potential long-term disability.

Injured parties may pursue legal claims for medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the crash.

We send our best wishes to the injured motorcyclist and hope for a full recovery.
