Colton, CA (May 2, 2025) — A tragic early morning crash in Colton claimed the life of 19-year-old Larenz Lamaar Fondren, who was struck and killed by multiple vehicles while crossing the street. The driver of the initial vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI, according to the Colton Police Department.

Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred around 6:48 a.m. in the 1700 block of East Washington Street. Surveillance video captured the moment Fondren was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle and then hit by several others. Despite the devastating impact, all drivers involved remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Fondren was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities later arrested 30-year-old Antonio Dominguez Medrano, the driver of the initial vehicle, on charges of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence. Police confirmed that both speed and impairment were contributing factors in the crash. Medrano was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and his bail was set at $100,000.

Pending the findings of the investigation, the victim’s family may also pursue a wrongful death lawsuit, seeking damages for funeral costs, loss of future income, and profound emotional loss.
