Darke County, OH (May 18, 2025) – Two individuals were injured in a crash involving a semi-truck Saturday evening in Darke County, Ohio.
Incident Details: Authorities say the crash occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and Jaysville-St. Johns Road. A white 2016 Freightliner semi, driven by a 37-year-old Dallas man, failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of a westbound 1994 GMC 1500 pickup driven by an 18-year-old from Bradford. The pickup collided with the semi, resulting in injuries to both the teen driver and his juvenile passenger. They were taken to Wayne HealthCare with minor injuries. The truck driver was treated at the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The semi-truck driver was cited for failure to yield after a marked stop sign. Investigators will likely examine whether distraction, fatigue, or poor visibility played a role in the driver’s failure to stop appropriately. Fortunately, injuries were non-life-threatening, and no further violations have been reported at this time.
