Fontana, CA (August 6, 2025) — A teenager was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene near her high school, according to the Fontana Police Department.
Incident Details: Police report that the collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. near Cherry Avenue and Walnut Street, just blocks from Etiwanda High School. The 17-year-old victim, a student at the school, was walking to class when a vehicle struck her. The driver did not stop, and the car fled the area. Emergency responders transported the teen to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect vehicle or driver.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Fontana Police Department is continuing its investigation into the collision, gathering critical evidence such as surveillance footage from nearby homes, businesses, and school security cameras, as well as eyewitness accounts. This evidence will be crucial in identifying the driver and determining fault. California law requires drivers involved in any injury-causing collision must stop, offer aid, and exchange information; failure to comply can result in felony charges.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a personal injury claim that will assist with medical and rehabilitation costs and pain and suffering.
I sincerely hope for the teen’s full and speedy recovery.
