15-Year-Old Killed While Waiting at Bus Stop in Long Beach Crash

Long Beach, CA (June 11, 2025) — A devastating crash in Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of 15-year-old Carlos, a Lakewood High School student, as he waited at a bus stop just days before the end of the school year.

Incident Details: According to the Long Beach Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:56 p.m. at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street. A 2010 Infiniti G37, reportedly speeding westbound on Carson Street, ran a red light and struck a 2010 Toyota Prius legally proceeding south on Palo Verde Avenue.

The force of the impact caused the Infiniti to spin out of control, overturn, and ultimately veer onto the northwest sidewalk, where it struck Carlos, who was seated at the bus stop. The Long Beach Fire Department rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Infiniti was hospitalized and is in stable condition. The driver of the Prius, a 32-year-old Lakewood resident, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Preliminary findings point to speed as a contributing factor in the collision.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Further investigation may include reviewing intersection surveillance footage, vehicle black box data, and witness statements to determine the exact speeds and sequence of events.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, there may be grounds for a wrongful death claim by Carlos’s family for both economic and emotional losses, like funeral costs and loss of companionship.

I extend my condolences to Carlos’s loved ones during this difficult time.
