Santa Rosa, CA (May 31, 2025) — A 14-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night while crossing College Avenue in Santa Rosa, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Incident Details: The collision occurred around 10:20 p.m. west of Beaver Street. Multiple people, including the driver involved, called 911 to report that a pedestrian had been hit. When officers arrived, they found the teen unconscious in the roadway. He was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries and, as of Monday, remained in critical condition.
The driver, a woman operating a Honda Pilot westbound on College Avenue, told police the boy entered the road from the north side just before the impact. She remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash. It is still unclear whether the teen was in a crosswalk at the time.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: As the investigation is ongoing, authorities will likely review surveillance footage, street lighting, road design, and impact evidence to determine the cause of the collision.
Pending the investigation findings, the young man’s family may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. These claims can help cover medical costs, future care needs, and emotional trauma.
I send well wishes to the young boy and his family as he recovers.
