Antioch, CA (August 4, 2025) — A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized with major injuries Monday evening after being struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle in Antioch, according to police.
Incident Details: The collision occurred around 6:46 p.m. at the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Muirwood Drive. Antioch police officers reportedly witnessed a Nissan Pathfinder hit the boy, knocking him unconscious. Officers provided immediate medical aid before he was airlifted to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Authorities say the 24-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not believe speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue investigating and are expected to examine traffic signals, lane positions, and driver attentiveness. Investigators may also review body-worn camera footage, intersection surveillance, and witness statements to determine whether the driver failed to yield or if roadway conditions contributed to the incident.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured minor’s family can pursue a personal injury claim for medical expenses, future care needs, and pain and suffering, often through a guardian ad litem.
I extend my thoughts to the young man and his family during this difficult time.
