Madison County, IL (July 25, 2025) – A pedestrian identified as Amisi M. Wilondja, 39, of Phoenix, Arizona, was struck and killed by a semi truck Friday morning along Interstate 70 in Madison County.
Accident Details: According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes near milepost 17. Wilondja was on foot in the roadway when he was hit by an oncoming tractor-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
No other injuries were reported.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: State police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including why the victim was on the roadway. Investigators will review dashcam footage, lighting conditions, and the truck’s event data recorder.
