Thousand Oaks, CA (May 7, 2025) — An elderly couple from Newbury Park died Tuesday afternoon after being seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash at a residential intersection in Thousand Oaks, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. on May 6 at the intersection of Via Las Brisas and Calle Del Prado. Authorities said that the impact caused one vehicle to spin out, while the other traveled approximately 250 feet before coming to a stop.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find the driver of one vehicle with minor injuries, while the two occupants of the second vehicle, identified as 77-year-old Alejandro Ramirez and 73-year-old Maria Ramirez, suffered significant injuries. Both were later pronounced dead due to the severity of their injuries.
The driver with minor injuries declined medical transport, and investigators have not yet determined what led to the collision.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash and has asked anyone with information to come forward. Key questions will include whether right-of-way violations, speed, driver distraction, or a failure to yield contributed to the deadly outcome.
Depending on the findings, surviving family members of Alejandro and Maria Ramirez may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim to recover damages for funeral expenses, emotional loss, and the deprivation of their care and companionship.
I offer my condolences to the Ramirez family during this difficult time.
