Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will focus on questions that help establish how and why the collision occurred:
- Was the pedestrian lawfully crossing with a walk signal?
- Did the scooter rider enter the crosswalk against the light or fail to yield?
- Was the speed of the scooter appropriate?
- Were traffic laws complied with?
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the family of the deceased may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim.
