LOS ANGELES, CA (July 16, 2025) – Seven people were injured Wednesday morning in a crash involving a school bus and multiple vehicles in the east San Fernando Valley, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Arleta Avenue, near the 5 Freeway. Witnesses reported that the school bus ran a red light and collided with several vehicles before spinning 180 degrees. Video footage captured by a news videographer shows the bus nearly tipping over after being T-boned by another car.
A 39-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were transported to a nearby hospital in fair condition. Five additional people were evaluated at the scene and declined further treatment, according to LAFD officials.
Authorities have not released details regarding how many students were on the bus or whether any minors were among the injured.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies are investigating the crash. In collisions involving school buses, investigators typically examine traffic signal compliance, driver conduct, and vehicle conditions. Running a red light is a serious violation that can lead to both criminal penalties and civil liability.
Injured parties in bus crashes may have legal options to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages, particularly if negligence is confirmed.
We send our best wishes to those injured in this crash and hope for their full recovery.
