SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (July 10, 2025) – A 62-year-old man was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Accident Details: The fatal collision occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of San Pedro Street and Imperial Highway. Authorities say the pedestrian was crossing Imperial Highway southbound when he was hit by a tan-colored Honda traveling eastbound.

The driver did not stop to assist the victim and continued driving east toward Avalon Boulevard, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The LAPD is investigating the crash and actively searching for the suspect vehicle and driver. Leaving the scene of a fatal collision is a felony under California law and can lead to both criminal charges and civil liability.

Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians often raise questions about driver negligence, road conditions, and pedestrian visibility. Families of fatal hit-and-run victims may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims to recover damages for funeral expenses, loss of support, and emotional suffering.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
