One Person Killed in 405 Freeway Truck Accident in Sepulveda Pass

Los Angeles, California (September 8, 2025) — A person was killed Monday afternoon in a crash on the southbound 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass that involved an Isuzu NRR truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 2 p.m. near Sepulveda Boulevard. CHP said the incident began with a two-vehicle collision, after which one individual exited a vehicle and walked onto the right shoulder. Shortly after, an Isuzu NRR truck swerved onto the shoulder, striking the pedestrian and a Toyota Prius. The victim died at the scene. The crash closed all southbound lanes except the carpool lane for several hours, with lanes reopening around 7 p.m.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP confirmed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the fatal crash. Authorities made an arrest in connection with the death, though the individual’s name and charges have not been released. In cases involving suspected impairment, felony charges such as vehicular manslaughter may follow. From a civil perspective, the victim’s family may pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver and possibly the trucking company, seeking compensation for funeral costs, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the person killed in this 405 Freeway truck accident.
